After 25 years with the company and a full decade as Group Chief Investment Officer, Guido Fürer has decided to retire on 31 March 2023.
It is Guido's personal wish to step down after a successful 35-year career in the financial industry to spend more time with his family and dedicate himself to his pro bono commitments on the boards of various foundations.
We would like to thank Guido for his tremendous contribution to the success of the Pension Fund Swiss Re – a contribution that has benefited us all. Guido's last day as Chairman of the Board of the Pension Fund Swiss Re is 31 March 2023.
In Hermann Geiger, we are pleased to have found an excellent successor as Chairman of the Board of the Pension Fund Swiss Re. His term of office begins on 1 April 2023.
Hermann Geiger joined Swiss Re in 2006 as Regional General Counsel Europe following the acquisition of GE Insurance Solutions. In his role as Group Chief Legal Officer, he oversees the Legal and Compliance functions within Swiss Re. A lawyer by training, Hermann Geiger holds a PhD and an LLM in law and also a PhD in economics and political science. He regularly publishes articles on regulatory and compliance matters and on corporate and business law, and is a member of various nonprofit advisory committees and legal bodies.
Given Hermann Geiger's deep and wide-ranging expertise and his 17 years of experience at Swiss Re – and knowing his drive and his passion – we have every confidence in the continued success and development of the Pension Fund under his leadership.
